Most nominations for ‘Dune’ and ‘The Power of the Dog’ at BAFTA 2022


London, Feb 3 (PTI) Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi film “Dune” has been nominated for the most number of categories at the BAFTAs 2022. At number two for nominations is Jane Champion’s film ‘The Power of the Dog’.

British television personalities A. J. Odudu and Tom Allen announced the nominations. “Dune”, based on the 1965 novel by author Frank Herbert, has received nominations in a total of 11 categories, including Best Film, Adapted Screenplay, Music and eight other technical categories.

Champion’s ‘Power of the Dog’ has received nominations in eight categories. Benedict Cumberbash, who played the lead role, received nominations in the Best Actor category, while his co-stars Jesse Plemons and Cody Smit-McPhee received nominations in the Best Supporting Actor category.

“Belfast”, a period drama directed by Kenneth Branagh, came third in nominations, receiving a total of six nominations. While Pon Thomas Anderson’s Liquorish Pizza, James Bond film No Time to Die and Steven Spielberg-directed musical drama West Side Story have received nominations in five categories each.

“Dune”, Adam McKay’s “Don’t Look Up”, “Belfast”, “Lickarish Pizza” and “The Power of the Dog” received nominations in the best film category.

Lady Gaga (House of Gucci), Elna Haim (Lickrish Pizza), Emilia Jones (Koda), Renette Rensiv (The Worst Person in the World), Joanna Scanlan (After Love) and Tessa Thompson (Passing) in the Best Actress category Enrollment received.

Olivia Colman and Kidman of ‘The Lost Daughter’ failed to receive nominations in this category.

Cumberbash, Mahershala Ali (Swan Song), Leonardo DiCaprio (Don’t Look You), Stephen Graham (Boiling Point), Will Smith (King Richard) and Adil Akhtar (Ali & Ava) received nominations in the Best Actor category.
