This will be the first time in 30 years that a cruise film titled ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ has been screened at the Cannes Film Festival. The last time the Ron Howard-directed film Far and Away was screened at the Cannes Film Festival was in 1992. Tom Cruise has played the lead role in the film.

Paramount and Skydance declined to comment on the festival screening of Cruise’s Oblivion director Joseph Kosinski. Maverick also stars Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glenn Powell, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Monica Barbaro, Ed Harris and Val Kilmer, returning as Iceman. The film has been postponed several times due to the Corona pandemic. Maverick launched its first trailer at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019. The first 13 minutes of the film were shown at CinemaCon in August 2021. The ‘Cannes Film Festival’ will run from May 17 to 28.
