Under the Bihar Agricultural Investment Promotion Policy, 4 projects have been approved for processing of banana-potato chips and snacks and spices on maize.
The meeting of the Bihar Agriculture Investment Promotion Policy Project Inspection Committee was held at Vikas Bhawan on Thursday. N. A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sarwan Kumar in which it was decided to give Rs 1.51 crore for these projects worth Rs 21.33. The Agriculture Department has so far approved 10 projects worth Rs 35.34 crore.
It will provide direct employment to about 300 people and indirect employment to thousands of people in Patna, Vaishali, Bhojpur, East Champaran and Begusarai regions. Let us tell you that under this scheme, the Agriculture Department is making purchases to encourage investment in agricultural processes by creating a favorable environment for 7 crops in the state. Directorate of Horticulture has been made the nodal agency. Exports are increasing due to processing, storage, value addition of fruits, maize, vegetables, maize and seeds, honey, tea, medicinal and aromatic plants. Nand Kishore, Director, Parks, Industries Department, APEDA, NABARD, Bihar Krishi Vidyapeeth and others participated in the meeting.
However, the Bihar government had implemented the Bihar Agricultural Investment Promotion Policy scheme in September 2020 to increase production and processing of various crops, prevent wastage, increase value addition and boost exports. The policy encourages agri-manufacturing companies as well as agro-processing investors.
Eligible individual units will receive 15 percent of the project cost and 25 percent of the project cost as FPC (minimum Rs 25 lakh and maximum Rs 5 crore) as credit linked capital grant. Agriculture Secretary Dr N Sarvan Kumar said that 52 projects worth Rs 317 crore would be set up in 7 different sectors of agriculture. Entrepreneurs have proposed one project each for processing maize, 8 for seeds, 5 for makhana, 9 for fruits and vegetables, 3 for honey, 3 for medicinal and aromatic plants and tea based projects.
