Big explosion of 23-year-old Ishan Kishan, jump of 68 places in ICC rankings, now even ahead of Rohit-Virat!


Indian opener Ishan Kishan has jumped 68 places in the list of batsmen in the T20 rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday. Now he has reached the seventh place. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Yuzvendra Chahal were also successful in the bowlers.

He has scored 164 runs in three matches so far, making him one of the top 10 batsmen in T20Is. Kishan is the only Indian batsman in the top-10. He is followed by KL Rahul at 14th position. Ishan Kishan was ranked 75th in the T20I rankings ahead of the T20I series against South Africa. However, in just three matches, he performed miraculously and reached the seventh position.

Captains Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer have dropped a place each to be at 16th and 17th position, respectively, while Virat Kohli has dropped two places to be at 21st position. Among the bowlers, pacer Bhuvneshwar has moved up seven places to 11th, leg-spinner Chahal has moved up four places to 26th and Teekshana has gained 16 places to eighth.

In the Test rankings, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has moved up to the third place after the country’s Ravichandran Ashwin. Ashwin remains in second place. Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin have retained the top two positions in the all-rounder’s list. Rohit and Kohli are ranked seventh and tenth respectively in the Test batting rankings, while England’s Joe Root is at the top with his second consecutive century in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship series against New Zealand. Root now has five ratings points more than Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne.
