Bharatvanshi Falguni Shah and Ricky Cage won the Grammy Award

Los Angeles, Apr 4 (PTI) Mumbai-born Falguni Shah moved to the US to pursue a career in the world of music, while US-born Ricky Cage returned to his parents’ native India to try his luck in the music field. At the 64th Grammy Awards ceremony held late Sunday night in Las Vegas, both the Indian ancestry were successful in winning awards in their respective categories.

Cage won the Grammy Award in the Best New Album category for “Divine Tides,” produced with Stewart Copeland. It was the second Grammy Award of his career.

At the same time, Falguni, a New York resident, won the Grammy Award in the Best Children’s Album category for ‘A Colorful World’.

Cage, who currently lives outside Bengaluru, won his first Grammy Award in 2015. He was declared the winner of the Best New Age Album category for ‘Winds of Samsara’.

The North Carolina-born Cage greeted the audience by saying “hello” with Copeland as he took to the stage to receive the coveted award.

Sharing a picture with Copeland on Instagram, she wrote, “So grateful to have won a Grammy Award for our album ‘Divine Tides’. I love this great man – Stewart Copeland – standing next to me. My love to all of you too! This is my second and Stewart’s sixth Grammy Award.”

Falguni also took to Instagram to express her gratitude to the Recording Academy, the organizer of the Grammy Awards ceremony, for her win.

He wrote, “I have no words to describe the miracle of today. What an honor it is to make the first presentation at the Grammy Premiere and then to win the trophy named after the wonderful people who contributed to the making of ‘A Colorful World’. We are extremely grateful and would like to thank the Recording Academy for recognizing our work.”

Falguni had settled in America in the year 2000. There he got a chance to work with many other stalwarts in his music career including Yo-Yo Ma, Wyclef Jean, Philip Glass, Ricky Martin, Blues Traveler and AR Rahman.

Two-time Grammy Award winner AR Rahman along with his son and playback singer AR Amin also graced the red carpet of the 64th Grammy Awards.

He also shared some pictures from the ceremony on the microblogging website.

Indian rapper and lyricist Divine also attended the Grammy Awards ceremony. She stepped on the red carpet of the event for the first time.
