‘Dune’ and ‘Power of the Dog’ ahead in race for BAFTA awards

London, Mar 13 (AP) The British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) will be held in a grand ceremony late Sunday. Science fantasy film ‘Dune’ and dark thriller ‘The Power of the Dog’ are in the race for the BAFTA Awards.

In the year 2021, due to the corona virus epidemic, the BAFTA award ceremony could mainly be held virtually. Benedict Cumberbatch and Lady Gaga are expected to grace the red carpet at the awards ceremony to be held at the Royal Albert Hall in London this year. Actress Rebel Wilson will be seen playing host to the ceremony.

Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, has won the most nominations in 11 categories. These include Best Film, Best Cinematography and Best Original Score categories. At the same time, “The Power of the Dog”, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, has been nominated in eight categories, including Best Picture and Best Director.
