Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been entertaining the audience for almost 15 years now. For producer Asit Kumar Modi, the inspiration to move forward comes from a song from the show. Speaking to indianexpress.com, he said, “The problem is with everyone, there is a point of view.”
Talking about his journey, Asit Modi shared that it has not been an easy journey and has had many ups and downs. However, he believes in moving forward and working hard. “Some people left the show, and there have been some problems in the team, but for me, I have made sure that I do not do wrong to anyone. I don’t want to disturb anyone. The show is all about comedy and I believe in spreading happiness and laughter.”
Decoding the reason behind actors’ exit, Asit Kumar Modi said that some people get tired of playing the same role and sometimes it is small things that become big. However, I don’t want to let anyone go. This show requires constant efforts, which not everyone can give. Also, many people want to quit and become big stars, which I think is a big risk. Asit Modi said that most producers are seen as wrong-doers, whereas the opposite is the case. He also said that everyone has a problem with those who give them jobs in every field. My only responsibility is to keep my audience happy.
When asked to share the highlights of his Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah journey, Modi shared, “When we were selected by PM Narendra Modiji for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. He mentioned the power of a TV show and that was really a proud moment for us. Also, when we get to know that people from all over the world, who might not even know our language, love watching the show. This makes my chest expand with pride. You will not believe that our show is also watched in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. We have audience in Pakistan also. Whatever our relationship with them, it seems so special that we managed to spread laughter around the world. This is the beauty of our show. We have always believed in spreading harmony, even as our show talks about the coming together of different cultures.
While he has been successfully running the show for over 15 years, Asit Kumar Modi recently launched games for nursery rhymes and even a YouTube channel. He shared how this is the first time something like this is happening with a TV show. “We have achieved the kind of success that no other show has achieved. And now, I wanted to get the characters out of the TV set. I want to create a universe with my characters. I really think Indians have a lot of talent but we don’t want to think big. I don’t want to limit myself and want to show the world what a show can make.
When asked if he is planning to launch a film next, the producer smiled and said, “Woh bhi banayenge (We will make him too). I truly believe that everything has its time. Not just a film but a web series or even an animation can be live-action – I don’t want to limit myself. I have many plans.
